Should Women Be Allowed To Compete Against Men in Sports?

Should Women Be Allowed To Compete Against Men in Sports? Today my blog will be talking about if women and men should be able to play or compete against each other in sports.

Many people believe that women should not compete against men because of their "physicality." I believe that this is not a valid excuse for why women cannot compete against men. For example, in most sports, players who are stronger and more physically fit hold some advantage, but players with a higher skill level are overall much stronger in their sport. While men and women differ in physicality, I don't believe that because of there differences, women are less superior and not worthy of playing against men. In professional sports, the level of skill should outweigh physicality and looks.

But would women be chosen for men's sports teams if they weren't good enough? I believe that if men and women played on teams together and were not judged based on gender, physicality, race, or religion, only the best players would make it onto teams. Just like in all sports, the best men and women would be drafted onto teams, and get a chance to play. If a female competes on the same level as a male or vice versa, why should or shouldn't they be chosen just because of there gender?

I believe that women and men competing against each other would be amazing. It would eliminate some gender stereotypes and change the way the world looks at women in sports. But would there be an even playing field for everyone? Even the most talented women would be at a disadvantage competing against average men in sports. These disadvantages are due to reasons such as differences in muscle mass, innate strength, testosterone levels, or socially constructed gender differences. Allowing women to compete against men in sports would be like allowing a 150-pound boxer get into a ring with a 300-pound fighter, where is the fairness or fan enjoyment in that? It's like knowing the outcome of the Super Bowl before the season were to start, fans would not want to watch. If women were to compete against men, men would have an unfair advantage from the beginning; the winner would most likely be known before the competition even began. What's the point of that?

Many people believe that once women are allowed to compete with men, they won't be able to catch up with them. By this, I mean that they would catch up to the interns of ability and performance, but catch up to them and start winning events and sports is not very reasonable. Most of the American public believes that top female athletes will eventually beat top males, but as women move up, so will men. The range between the two sexes if very wide, between 8% and 12%., which is a gap almost impossible to close. The top women in 100m sprints and long jump s are still behind top male scores about 10%. On top of that, women's best scores in swimming or athletics don't even reach the top 400 men's scores. While women will advance physically will likely advance and make the gap between men and women smaller, it is improbable that the disadvantages will disappear altogether, putting men at an unfair advantage.

Introducing women to means sports would result in rule, weight, and length class changes, etc.. Many sports fans wouldn't welcome that or be for it. Some feel it may be worth considering changing the games so that they accommodate women, but others might disagree. It's hard for me to imagine the American public being happy about they're favorite sports changing. For example, when the NFL launched the new concussion protocol to save players' lives, fans didn't like it and claimed this change would ruin football. Or when fans were aggravated by the MLB's ban on home plate collision, and they still have issues with instant replay being used to make better judgment calls. In conclusion, I believe that this wouldn't go down very well with fans, who are the main reason that athletes do all of the things they do.

While women competing against men would provide a positive outcome for gender discriminate, it would reduce the uncertainty of results and potentially change the nature of the games the world has already come to know and love.

Should College Athletes Get Paid?

Should College Athletes Get Paid? This is an ongoing and never-ending argument. Many people have different opinions, I believe that college athletes should not get paid by the NCAA.  The NCAA brings in about 1 billion dollars yearly. Many people believe that some of that money should go towards paying College Athletes, and I disagree. College athletes gain many things from playing in the NCAA. They are provided with the best training and practice facilities, the best trainers and coaches, gift bags with very expensive gifts, newer housing, and even sometimes full-ride scholarships.  Colleges get the best training and practice facilities that money can buy. College football teams try to equip their programs with the latest and greatest upgrades, the greatest example is the University of Alabama's facilities. They house 37,000-square-feet, $9 million weight room, Tuscaloosa offers everything and more a player needs to succeed. They even have a few waterfalls in the hydrot...
