Making 2020 THE Year: New Year's Resolutions

Hey Guys, Happy New Year!! In honor of the new year and new decade, I’m going to be talking about my new years’ resolutions or what I plan on doing to make 2020 my year. When I think of a new year I think of a fresh start, a new page. It’s a great opportunity to put everything behind us and create a new mindset for ourselves. There are many things that I would like to work on not only this year but for the rest of the decade. One of them being quitting bad habits such as; procrastination, swearing, eating unhealthy, having a bad sleep schedule, the list could go on. We acquire all these bad habits with the repetition of behavior. When a person keeps doing something over and over certain neural pathways are activated in our brains and it becomes much easier for the brain to do the same thing again. To try to break these bad habits just try not doing them anymore. I know sounds simple, but when you really have to commit it becomes pretty tricky. But what I’m trying to say is try going ...

Time Managment Skills

Hey guys! Today’s blog is going to be about time management ; how to manage your time and time management skills. I personally struggle with managing my time well, I leave everything off till the last minute even this blog post, haha. I have a very busy schedule and leave most of the things I need to do until the very last minute. So today I will be talking about what skills are required to be a good time manager and how to actually manage your time.  Being a good time manager comes naturally to some but not all, so sometimes you need to talk about the skills needed to manage your time wisely. An important skill to accomplish this is organization . Being organized can reduce the stress and help you maintain a clear picture of what you need to complete and when you need to complete it. Being organized could also mean working in a tidy and productive space, knowing what you need to do, and having good information to complete what you need to do.  Another crucial skill to bei...

My Travel "Bucket List"

Hey, guys so in today’s blog, I’m going to be talking about something a little different. Since fall and school are now in full set, I’m starting to miss summer and all the great adventures that come w ith it. So today's blog is going to be about where I want to travel in the future. I have always loved traveling, and have especially traveled a lot this past year, and am hoping to do the same this upcoming year. The first destination on my list is Greece. Greece is first on my list to travel because it is not only a beautiful place to travel but it is also so rich in culture. There is amazing cuisine, beautiful beaches, and amazingly preserved historical monuments. In Greece, I would specifically like to visit; Santorini, Athens, Mykonos, and Meteora. All these destinations are very unique and have lots of history behind them, they are also very beautiful tourist destinations. Another destination that I would like to visit is Tokyo, Japan. As the capital, Tokyo is a v...

Setting Up The Game: Volleyball for Beginners

Hey, guys in today’s blog, I’m going to be talking about the basics of volleyball; the rules, the skills, and the positions. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules.   The Basic Rules: 6 players on the court at any one time 3 in the front row and 3 in the back row Maximum of 3 hits per side Points are made on every service for winning team of rally (rally-point scoring). The player may not hit the ball twice in succession. (A block is not considered a touch.) Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on a serve. A ball hitting a boundary line is in. A ball is out if it hits an antennae, the floor completely outside the court, any of the net or cables outside the antennae, the referee stand or pole, the ceiling above a non-playable area. It is legal to contact the ...

Should Women Be Allowed To Compete Against Men in Sports?

Should Women Be Allowed To Compete Against Men in Sports? Today my blog will be talking about if women and men should be able to play or compete against each other in sports. Many people believe that women should not compete against men because of their "physicality." I believe that this is not a valid excuse for why women cannot compete against men. For example, in most sports, players who are stronger and more physically fit hold some advantage, but players with a higher skill level are overall much stronger in their sport. While men and women differ in physicality, I don't believe that because of there differences, women are less superior and not worthy of playing against men. In professional sports, the level of skill should outweigh physicality and looks.  But would women be chosen for men's sports teams if they weren't good enough? I believe that if men and women played on teams together and were not judged based on gender, physicality, race, or rel...

My Idol: Thayer Hall

Hay guys so in today's blog I'm going to be talking about my inspiration, and who inspires me to be a great volleyball player and person! My inspiration and someone who I look up to is Thayer Hall. Thayer Hall is a volleyball player that I've looked up to for about 2 years now. At the age of 19, she has accomplished so much. She is not only an amazing volleyball player but also an amazing person.  Thayer Hall is volleyball player known for her work with the Florida Gators Volleyball team. At 6’3’’ she is known for being an outside hitter and was named MVP of the Women's Under 20 Pan American Cup after her work with the US junior national team. She is also known for having been honored as the Gatorade National Volleyball Player of the Year in January of 2018, and the Max Preps National Athlete of the Year. Her hard work and dedication is inspiring. Through all four years of high school, Thayer played varsity volleyball and her freshman year of college at a D1 schoo...

Should College Athletes Get Paid?

Should College Athletes Get Paid? This is an ongoing and never-ending argument. Many people have different opinions, I believe that college athletes should not get paid by the NCAA.  The NCAA brings in about 1 billion dollars yearly. Many people believe that some of that money should go towards paying College Athletes, and I disagree. College athletes gain many things from playing in the NCAA. They are provided with the best training and practice facilities, the best trainers and coaches, gift bags with very expensive gifts, newer housing, and even sometimes full-ride scholarships.  Colleges get the best training and practice facilities that money can buy. College football teams try to equip their programs with the latest and greatest upgrades, the greatest example is the University of Alabama's facilities. They house 37,000-square-feet, $9 million weight room, Tuscaloosa offers everything and more a player needs to succeed. They even have a few waterfalls in the hydrot...
